6 bedrooms?

Does anyone know of a competitive insurance deal for structure + contents for a 6 bed semi? Many simply won't insure as if the house is non standard but it is.

Churchill will quote online for 6 (not a recommendation) or try a local broker (not swinton)

In what way is it non-standard?

Internet advice seems to indicate 5 beds as the maximum number for mainstream policies. One insurer Ecclesiates calls it "non standard".

    Hi,
Try Sainsbury's. They often have excellent deals and I have been insuring my non standard house (6 bedrooms) with them for the past 3 years. Halifax will also quote and insure for 6 bedrooms I've noticed.

That doesnt make it non-standard. That makes it unsuitable for bedroom rated policies that have a maximum of 5 bedrooms. Standard/non-standard is to do with construction (i.e. not built built)

  • In fact for many (if not most) properties a bedroom contract is too expensive and savings can be made if customers actually insure for the correct amounts instead of being too lazy.

It is just that on the internet it is easier to sell home insurance via bedroom contracts than by different ways.
