6v Power supply for phone

Just bought a new house phone, but the 6v power supply for the basr is not long enough! its 1.5m long but I need approx 2metres to my mains socket. Can you buy extensions for these type of power supply? Failing that I will have to find somewhere else for it and buy a telephone cable extension.

Its got written on the plug.
Input: 100-240v. ~ 50-60Hz 150mA
Output: 6v --- 500mA

It's low voltage low current, so as long as you insulate your connections, there's no harm in chopping and extending the wire with a couple of connector blocks.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

  • Could try maplin or ebay but as there's such variations in plug it will be difficult to find one.

Other option is what the above poster says.

I'd go with the chop in half and extend the cable option. This isn't a dangerous voltage or current so if you screw it up first time it isn't a huge deal.

You could probably make an extension piece using parts from Maplin, but in my experience getting power supply connectors that fit exactly is very difficult, as anyone who remembers those 3rd party power supplies with the 4 plugs in a + formation can attest to (lost many games of speak and spell to one of those as a child)
