How much would you pay for a homemade wreath?

Morning,

Last year I made my own Christmas wreaths using holly, ivy, green follage, pheasent feather and lots of flowers. I had so many people saying that they would buy one off me that I thought I would make some to sell this year. I will use Naylorbase plastic backed oasis rings which will cost about £4.50 each for a 14" wreath, flowers purchased from the shop (I used roses and babies breath last year) at a cost of about £4-5. The wreath are well packed and take me about 1 hour to make not counting the forraging for holly and ivy which is collected from around the farm, and will will include a large ribbon at the top to hang the wreath with.

i would be making them to order and incorperating any requests if I can.

What I would like to know is what people would be happy to pay for a wreath like this thanks. I will try and add a photo later if I can.

I reckon you could charge at least £20. As there's all your labour involved too.

That one is made with artificial flowers and foliage so it would last for years - still more than I would pay but at least it isn't a one time use expense.

Your local 'market' (ie the customer base you are targeting) will largely dictate the prices people are prepared to pay. In my home town, (a large one with a regular market in a deprived part of the North) from memory, wreaths start at around 12.99 and go up to early £20-ish. A more affluent area would command a higher price.

I agree with Spendless - it will depend what other wreaths are being priced at in your area.

My first thought after reading your post OP was, you'll not make much profit if you are having to outlay £10ish before you even look at your time and any leaflet drops etc you do for them.

I wouldnt buy a fresh wreath, just fake, they look so good these days you cant tell, and last a lot longer!

Local to me small fresh holly wreaths with waxed roses sell for around £8-10 pound. Yours sound like they will be bigger and more deluxe if you are intending on using fresh flowers with them so I'd expect around the £20 mark, more if you incorporate special requests. I have seen deluxe fresh wreaths sell for a lot more than that in some places. It all does depend a lot on your market area and the type of people who are likely to buy them. You are in the best position to judge what price range that market will pay.

One other small thing when you are selling, I wouldn't call them 'Homemade' for some strange reason people don't expect to pay as much for something listed as 'Homemade' yet call something 'Handmade' and it seems to shove it up into a higher price bracket. Too some people which could include potential customers, homemade means made by enthusiastic amateur craft person. Yet handmade means a more luxury item made with care by a skilled person. There is no logic to it because really both terms could often be interchangeable and mean the same thing but it can make a significant difference in some areas as to what people will pay for your product.

Are you buying the rings online as p&p isn't that cheap on the sites I looked at, although if you buy the rings all in one go that will help.
