Hi all
We are off the the Illuminations in October half term - we have been before but have never been in the Tower.
We are going with friends who are Merlin pass holders so they will be "doing" the tower.
We are wondering which of the attractions in the Tower are worth seeing and which ones not.
Kids are 9 and 10.....
also i see that there are family discos in the The Tower ballroom on a Friday night which are free.....has anyone been? is it worth going just to see what the ballroom is like?
anyone know of any deals for entry into the tower over half term?
there will be 2 adults one senior citizen and 2 kids.
thanks

If you plan to do other attractions then these two are good value:

We bought 2 of each because we didn't want to go on the rides at the Pleasure Beach and had free passes.
We enjoyed our visit to the Tower attractions but it's not something we'd do again.
Tower - Nice views, netting too oppressive, may be closed if the weather is bad
Ballroom - Mrs V and the Vikingettes loved it - big yawn from me!
Sea Life - good - one of the bigger and better ones
Circus - not sure - I decided to go shopping
Madame Tussauds - lame - really lame
Jungle Jims - not used this portion of the ticket
Tower Dungeon - Looked lame from the outside - but seriously good inside. Took longer than I thought. The man without a signature.0 -
thanks
if we bought this

could different people us it to go into different bits ie the dungeons might appeal to me but not to my mother in law who might want to do the sealife or other such combination....

From memory the tickets have a box that have to be signed. Mrs V. bought them and signed them. But I went with DD2 to the dungeons and the signature was never checked - if they did check I would have just said my wife signed them.
In the queues for these attractions loads of people had these passes and all they cared about was that the checkbox for the attraction was unredeemed/unticked.
If you want to visit only one or two attractions then call up the Blackpool Tourist Office. They have a wallchart showing their discounted rates of entry to certain attractions and were far cheaper. The man without a signature.0 -
When the tower was one price for everything it was really good value but since they got greedy and split into seperate admissions its not so good . If you've never been up the tower then you get a ride up the tower and a 4d show - its ok if you've never been before but not the greatest value unless you manage to get some sort of discount. My dd loves the circus, it really centres on the star clown mooky - personally I'm not a big fan but for kids its certainly worth a visit - but get there early to get a decent seat. My dd hasn't been to Jungle Jims for a couple of years - it used to be used to be good as you could as many times as you wanted so might be worth a visit although I think your now limited how long you can stay in it and only get one visit - need to check the website. When up a couple of floors you can look in and see the ballroom but its not worth paying to get in unless your really into that sort of thing. The dungeons is well worth a visit although again check the website as 9 might be borderline age wise. Another tip is take sandwiches etc in with you - saves a fortune.cheers0

Last year I was in Blackpool for a convention. Afterwards I happened to be in the building underneath the tower (for a Snooker tournament) and fancied a pint. I was given directions up and down stairs etc, which unknown to me, took me to the Tower Ballroom. My jaw hit the floor. It's absolutely beautiful. As I stood at the bar I watched other people walk in as I had, not knowing what was to greet them. I saw about 20 blokes all walk in with faces like kids who'd just walked into Santa's Grotto. If you get the chance, call in.0

The circus is definately worth the entrance fee- an hour and a half to 2 hours of entertainment.
We have been the past 2 years and have not been dissapointed.
A little tip though, it can get a bit chilly so take a coat just in case.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

We went in summer and the attraction pass worked out very expensive compared to other offers. There are some half price / 2 for 1 tokens around, ie Kellogs and Tesco etc but many are not valid during the English half term for the tower (end of Oct, lucky Scotland early Oct
), the Tesco petrol one is though if you can get hold of them, some on ebay. Tesco clubcard tokens for the circus at £3.00 each, tower/ Tussauds / dungeon at £4.50 each. The circus is well worth seeing as is the dungeon. The tower is something to do once, the new big walk of faith is not as scary as the old small one was, nice to see they are doing something to bring the building back after years of neglect. 0 -
