Had accident 3 weeks ago, now renewal is up - advice

Situation:

The OH's car was hit coming of a roundabout, other driver admitted, their insurance admitted and we got the car repaired. Our insurance (SwiftCover) still has not updated our status to a "no fault" as they say they have not received the money from the other insurance company (Saga). Phoned Saga, they say they have sent it.

Problem:

Insurance renewal is due in 1 week, currently the years NCD has been wiped out (returning her to zero years), status of accident is "own fault" and we have sky high renewal prices. Have phoned another ins co. to ask what their policy is and if the claim is pending, you pay the full price, then they will refund the difference MINUS the amount of time you have used the policy for while this was going ahead!

The damage amount was actually LESS than what the excess would have been if we had to pay it!

SwiftCover are a joke when trying to get in touch with them, phone line constantly busy, email never answered, or when you do get a reply and then respond, the other person is "out of the office".

All this hassle because someone wasn't looking.

If anyone can offer a suggestion as to what else I can do, please feel free to reply.

Thanks

Unless you have had your no claims discount re-instated, you have to shop round with an "at fault" claim on your file and no/reduced no claims discount.

If you renew with the current insurer and then your no claims discount gets reinstated, then the current insurer will refund the difference.

There's no easy way around this unfortunately. In some exceptional circumstances if you renew with your own insurer they might agree to reinstate the NCD before they have reclaimed their outlay, given that the other insurer has admitted liability, but I wouldn't bank on it, and other insurers will never give you this leeway.

ASK THE THIRD PARTY INSURERS TO SEND YOU A LETTER CONFIRMING YOU ARE NOT AT FAULT AND ASK THEM IF THEY HAVE RECEIVED ANYTHING FROM SWIFT ASKING FOR REFUND OF REPAIR... THEN SHOP AROUND.

INSURANCE COMPANIES ONLY REINSTATE YOUR NCD WHEN THEY RECOVER THERE OUTLAY FROM THE THIRD PARTY INSURERS
