Was this part of your argument or did the adjudicator realise this without any input from you? What was wrong with the signs?

It wasn't part of my argument at all. They must have been having a good day when dealing with my case :)

I can't remember now what was wrong with it, might see if I still have the paperwork if I get a few minutes spare.

It's conceivable that they sympathised with your case but wanted to avoid setting too much precedent on the fluttering ticket issue so looked for something else to help you.
  • this is the line of work I used to be doing if a ticket is upside down and the ticket issuer can`t read it you will get booked it could be yesterdays ticket we used to get in edinburgh people in offices would park without a ticket get booked then appeal producing a ticket but what we did was take details of every ticket displayed each side of vehicle which was booked and lo and behold if the ticket they produced was on another vehicle they were charged with fraud, tickets from different ticket machines have different numbers, not rocket science but some folk are so naive if the lines and signs are not CLEAR you will get your parking ticket cancelled I used to tell people to write to address on the ticket as the warden/parking attendant will have a copy that lines and signs are clear/not clear?!! and will back you up

    Try an appeal.
You have a valid ticket, and you displayed it on the vehicle.
Common sense would suggest that it has to be displayed so you can read it, but I'm willing to bet that the only contractual obligation is to display it. (face down is still displaying it IMHO)

If it is one of those anti-pass on to someone else tickets with your reg number on, you can prove its validity, if not they will argue that you picked it up off the floor......

upside down is a bit tight. As long as its displayed and the ticket is viewable; that should be all that counts.
  • Why not invest in a dashboard clip, it stops this sort of thing dead.

Many councils now favour the throw your appeal letter in the bin and hope you dont go to the adjudicator when the deadline arrives.

Yes, and if they go through with the adjudication, they will send a letter a day before the hearing, saying that they've cancelled the ticket due to a "technical issue", and you need not attend.

Blimey. The war on punctuation rages on. :rotfl:

  • I could not even read that, there seems to be a dearth of capitals as well.
