Hi, can anyone offer advice on a holiday to the above place please. Ideally looking at self catering for a family of four,at the end of may, my daughter is desperate to see sea/ golden eagles so I thought this place would be ideal. If anyone can offer any advice about the best place to stay and places to visit or any advice at all I would be extremely grateful. Many thanks. Paul.

I've just come back from Mull. There are a lot of websites with information about sea eagles and when best to see them - we were lucky and stumbled across some amateur bird-watchers with binoculars by the side of the road who had spotted some!
The Forestry Commision might be a good start - http://www.forestry.gov.uk/mullseaeagles
In terms of where to stay, I'd suggest looking around Tobermory. I would also highly recommend Staffa Tours and taking a trip with them out to Staffa. They are very informative, we saw a LOT of basking sharks, and had a great day out at sea.
There are a lot of geocaches on the island if you're into geocaching too.....and don't forget Iona.
We spent 4 days on Mull camping, and could easily have stayed another week. It is stunning. Have fun!0 -

If you want to help support the island's economy you do your shopping and filling up with petrol on the island.0

Best place I've ever seen for golden eagles is the Ardnamurchan peninsula - on the way to Mull, so a day or two around Strontian might be worthwile.
The closest I've ever got to a golden eagle was there - about 10-15 feet. It was picking at a dead fox by the roadside and was totally unbothered by my pulling-up in the car. They can also frequently be seen flying over Strontian itself and even from the Corran Ferry Amazing birds!
