Sadly the course is not eligible for 24+ loans as it is not a fundable (FE phrase!) course.

Ah, I'm not familiar with the course at all, however, many were rebranded to fit, but I don't have the database to hand.
  • NEBOSH is the start of the quals needed for Health & Safety bods. It is a full cost (commercial, non-funded) course offered by many colleges, some also offer the other levels too but not many.

Learning Aim is 00295348 if you are interested.
  • Your only option is a Career Development Loan. Cooperative does it but you must open a normal account with them and have income of £700+ per month for at least 3 months before you can apply for this loan.

Other than that there's no loans available.
  • Thought Id pop these numbers on here might help other people in job areas Im ringing most of them to get help with work so worth a try

    Skills funding agency: 08453775000
    National Carears service: 0800100900
Gates (helps with jobs and advice):01915347462
    Family Wise:0141 303 3131
  • As I mentioned before, find out if you local college
    1. offers the course
    2. has access to ESF Skills Support for Unemployment
as this funding can fund the course but not all colleges have it.

    Hi Michael,

Sounds like you’ve been proactive and have tried a lot of avenues for funding but so far no luck, unfortunately.

You mentioned your applications for loans. Were these personal loans or course funding loans like the Professional and Career Development Loan or the 24+ Advanced Learning Loans? If it’s the latter, I imagine you might have exhausted all statutory funding options.

The only other thing I can think of would be to try Family Action and www.turn2us.org.uk which are charities who provide advice about charitable bursaries and grants. Here are a few pages from their sites which could be helpful.

    • A Grants Search section containing the details of hundreds of grant-giving charities (national, regional and local) that may be able to provide financial support and other services
    • A ‘My Turn2us’ account facility that can be used to make online enquiries and applications to grant-giving charities
    • Educational Grants Search - this site can identify charitable funding for education or training. Searches can be used for enquiries about full time, part time and distance learning courses.
    • Educational Grants Programme – this administers funds from over 30 educational trusts. It offers small grants to students who study at institutions affiliated to their service. Grants are primarily targeted at families and individuals with low incomes, particularly those living on benefits.
Good luck with it all and I hope you manage to find something that’ll enable you to get this course started.
