Confused claiming back PPI

Hey,

So I recently filled out my PPI questionnaire and sent it off to Lloyds and today I got a letter back saying that my compliant had been registered and they will 'reassess' my complaint. I was totally confused as to why the letter read reasses? Meaning I've put a compliant in before?
So I gave Lloyds a ring and they said they had a compliant from Claims Advisory Group on my behalf back in 2011 which was rejected. I do remember going through Claims Advisory Group filling and signing there forms however I rung up a few days later asking to cancel as I'd changed my mind (realising how easy it is to do yourself) which they said they had canceled and I never heard anything again not from the bank and not from CAG.

Lloyds said today that they had received ''new information'' and will pass the recent questionnaire along with my orginal claim on to investigators. It was a painful phone call as understanding and patient he was I just couldn't understand him it was 32 minutes going around in circles. He said something about cancelling the orginal compliant but then said I couldn't it would cancel both I just didnt understand what was being said!

Does this mean Claims advisory will still get money if my complaint is accepted? My compliant was made due to taking out a loan when I was 18 which basically said if I didnt take the insurance out I wouldn't stand a chance getting it. I've since tried to cancel the insurance with no success.

    They might if you can't prove you cancelled your complaint.

    It would follow that would be the case, unless you have documentary evidence (E-Mail confirmation or letter perhaps) that you cancelled the CMC's involvement before they actually submitted the complaint on your behalf.

    This would be true if the Bank didn't actually receive the complaint via the CMC. The Bank's records show that the complaint was indeed received in this manner. See below;

    While this is also true, that won't stop the CMC sending the OP a bill.

    Ok thanks for the info! After reading much of your advice on other threads in this section Moneyineptitude I think that I have a weak case so I'm really not counting my chickens .
    If I do get a refund from the bank and then a bill I will just have to challenge it!

    The problem you'll have is proving the cancellation call you made actually took place.

    There should be a note on the case to that effect. Call them again and check. At the end of the day lloyds are not going to get involved in any dispute between you and the CMC. If they have instructions from you that the LOA is cancelled then they will not speak to the CMC so the CMC will not know whether you have had a refund or not.

    If for some strange reason they do not have this instruction, issue it again now.

    And yes, offshore telephony's English leaves a lot to be desired. :D

    Update!!

    Got a letter come through from Lloyd's saying my claim had be successful and they were paying me £682.

    First thing I done was ring them up to confirm they hadn't sent a letter to a third party claims group but they have.

    So now I've got 2 missed calls of claims advisory group and I'm not sure what to do :( I did yes fill out a form for claims advisory group and canceled it even put a post up on here which can still been seen about it (know that doesn't legally mean anything)

    What are my options?

    pay them or don't pay them, potentially get taken to court, or not.

    You have to show you cancelled the contract within the specifed time, but if they had already submitted a complaint on your behalf, it doenst sound like you did.....
