Bought Vax from Comet, now broken....

Hi all.

Just a quick question I have about guarantees after a company goes bust.

A year a go my parents purchased a Vax hoover from Comet. As we all know they have now gone bust and parts have broken on the hoover.

My parents have called Vax direct and Vax sent them replacement parts, the problem being the wrong parts so they do not fit.

This has now happened four times, each time Vax sends the wrong parts that don't fit together let alone on the hoover!

My parents have now had enough of the to and fro (and being an old school avid cleaner my mum is now twitching!) and asked for their money back.

Vax have then said they can't give them their money back as it was Comet who sold them the hoover.

Anyone have any ideas on what they can do now - the cynic in me is thinking Vax are pushing this over the years guarantee timeline with their delay tactics.

Thanks

You will not get your money back from Vax.

Was the cleaner purchase made by credit card, or perhaps some other form of credit?

If so, maybe the credit provider can help.

Have a read of MSE's Section 75 Refunds article.

Apart from that, I can only suggest that you keep on at Vax for a resolution. Don't worry about the warranty expiring, you advised them of the problem within the warranty period.
  • Thanks for the reply, thats all I was worried about really - them saying the guarantee was over.

I will carry on contacting them now on my parents behalf.

    Thanks again!
