Which glue to fix a backed nylon slide?

Options
Hope someone can help....I have a large inflatable water slide, an Ultimate Splash Attack. It is in it's 3rd year and gets heavily used by the kids so I want to be able to repair it soon! It inflates with an electric air fan and seems to be made of 2 layers. The top, outer layer looks like (possibly) closely woven Nylon with a bonded backing layer...maybe this is how flat sheets of Nylon are made?....pressumably this bonded backing layer is to stop too much air escaping through the woven nylon?.
My problem is that the backing layer of plastic(?) (due to wear/sun damage/poor packing) in a couple of areas has broken down and is allowing air to escape in patches meaning that the slide now does not inflate properly. The top is layer of nylon remains undamaged, not ripped or anything....it just looks like the backing has become brittle and torn away from the top layer.
I have some patches supplied with the slide but don't now what glue to use to stick them on with. The repair instructions say to glue them rather than sew them on, but helpfully don't tell me whaich glue to use and I don't think Pritt is going to do it!
I wondered if anyone knows the best sort of glue to use in this case?
The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. It is never of any use to oneself. (Oscar Wilde);)

  • Hi,

I have some loctite super glue here - which I imagine is the sort of thing you need. However there are so many types at b&q I end up reading every packet just to be sure I am getting the right one!

Loctite customer service number is 01606 593 933 - you could phone them and ask which product is best for the application you require. Sorry I threw away the card that tells you what you can use mine on!!!

    Good luck!

I also have the same slide and it is 3 years old. My husband has spent the last week patching the slide but it seems to be leaking at every seam. We have just had to admit defeat, my kids are so sad!
