Returning an item?

Could someone please offer me some advise regading an ongoing issue I am having with a retail company.

I arranged to return an item to them over the telephone on 29/07/2013 and they sent me packaging and advise the item would be collected in 3 working days. After a week passed, I got back to them and was told the same again. Another 3 days passed and I still had the item. I then rang to complain and was apologises to and informed that collection had never been arranged. I was then given a reference number and a collection date. When I rang the company who collect the items, i was told that this had never been arranged. On ringing the retail company back to enquire, I was told this would be sorted.....

...rinse and repeat until today...

my question now is this. I am still being fobbed off with the 3 days and still nothing. Am i within my rights to charge the company for storage of the item? Also, i have requested copies of the call recordings I have made. Is there anything I can do with these in order to make this whole ordeal end? All I want is for the item to be collected but I am still being charged for it.

Thanks for any help

Only if you have previously given them notice that you intend to do that.

    Who is the seller?

I think I would be more concerned with pushing the seller for a refund... unless of course the goods to be returned are huge.

Its a king size bed frame so fairly big and quite heavy.

I have previously advised them i intend to begind charging them based on advise i received but was not sure I was within my rights to do so.

    Thanks

  • You potentially do as long as you inform them properly that its your intent, what the rate is and that the rate is in some way sensible - you wont get away with charging £50,000 a day :)
