Nationwide PPI

I have a complaint being looked at by Nationwide regarding PPI on a loan. I received a phone call from someone reporting to be from Nationwide last week asking about a pre-existing medical condition I had when the loan was taken out.
After doing a little bit of digging, I have found out that this person actually works for Deloitte, and after reading what happened when Lloyds used Deloitte, am I being paranoid or am I being set up for rejection?

You're being paranoid. Why on earth were you digging anyway? If the complaint form mentions your illness, they will want to know details otherwise you could be making it up, so there was a better than even chance they would phone you for more details.
Wait for them to get back to you.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Thanks Taff, your probably right. The reason I looked into it was because he wanted to know about medical conditions during & after the loan had finished.0

Hi Taff, got a reply back from Nationwide- PPI complaint rejected. My reasoning for complaint was as follows: Not informed single premium PPI. No eplanation about pre-existing medical conditions. Loans topped up so rollover of PPI. Also, I paid the loan off early, and not rebate of premiums.
Their reply, no mention about single premium PPI, (I was given all info to make an informed decision), later in the letter it states that it was a non advised sale. Pre existing medical condition I had would not have stopped me from claiming (I have all oringinal paperwork from branch, - no questions about medical). Finaly they say I received a rebate when the loan was paid off early and paperwork sent out. As I was in financial difficulty at the time, I was contacted by a representative of Nationwide from Nottingham who arrainged the final payment on the loan over the phone. No paperwork was ever sent, they claim otherwise. Finally, i asked for a Subject Access request 18 months ago all original paperwork for loans supplied by Nationwide including interview paperwork when applying for loan. All leters etc sent by Nationwide but no final letters stating rebate or final payments on account.
Oh yes, the person who rang me to ask questions about medical history works for Deloitte.0 -
Single premium is not as successful as it was as a complaint reason. It is still good for MPPI and secured loans but not so much for personal loans.
pre existing condition is only an issue if the condition is severe enough to invalidate most of the policy coverage. Minor conditions would not invalidate a policy.I have all oringinal paperwork from branch, - no questions about medical
Doesnt matter if they were not asked if there is no impact. You dont win by default. The issue has to prevent the policy paying out.Finaly they say I received a rebate when the loan was paid off early and paperwork sent out.
That is normal on early settlement of a loan. The settlement would give a part rebate of the PPI. It is not a reason to reject a complaint but it would reduce the payout on a successful complaint.received a rebate when the loan was paid off early and paperwork sent out. As I was in financial difficulty at the time
Did you pay the full amount owed or did you pay a lower settlement figure?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Hi Dunstonh, I did not receive any rebate at all. Also no paperwork, as I said before all contact by phone to Nationwide in Nottingham. No final Paperwork received after finish of loan. They have not provided this even though I sent the a SAR.0

Sorry forgot to say, in August of previous year, the balance was £3300, in April, I paid £4000.0

I did not receive any rebate at all.
Normally you wouldnt personally receive it. It would be taken off the amount owed and you given a net settlement figure that includes the rebate. They have not provided this even though I sent the a SAR.
Which suggests it probably no longer exists. Although that neither helps or hinders you.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I have spoken to Nationwide, they say the rebate was given after I made the final payment. I think a letter to the FOS & Let them sort it, Thanks for everyone's help.0
