Question regarding Name Change

Hello all

I got married in July and my surname changed. I duly informed all people, bank, doctors, phone etc. I recently checked my credit files and experian are now not showing my credit card or loan, presumably because these are now in my married name. However noddle are showing all as Lloyds have reported to them the name change so my married name is now listed under other names.

Is there any reason why experian have not bothered to up date their records. Do I need to contact them to do this?

Thanks for any help.

  • Experian might not report the accounts where the name has changed so it's not on their credit file, you could always raise it if Noddle is correct, I would expect experian to have the Lloyd's accounts.
  • Having recently got divorced, my ex-husband signed the divorce papers agreeing to pay my costs as he was guilty of having an affair and he ticked the court papers (prior to the divorce) agreeing that he would pay. Since I did the divorce myself (without a lawyer) the fees only came to £425.00. We are now officially divorced since 25 July 2013 (yay!) but my ex-husband has decided to ignore my calls, texts and emails and has moved house since the divorce and I do not have a forwarding address. I want to take him to small claims court for the sum of £425.00 but don't know how to do this if I do not have a forwarding address for him? Can anyone help or advise please? Would be really grateful :0)

The OP says 'now not showing' implying that they did before.

OP - did they show on your Experian file before?

Hi, yes they did show before. I think I might have solved this now. I opened a new experian in my married name and it shows all my current open lloydstsb accounts but not the settled ones. So I rung experian and I had to fill in an alias form and email it to them. Hopefully this will be done in the next couple of weeks and I presume everything will be merged.

I'm hoping it doesn't take too long be because currently my new name report looks awful as there are no settled accounts and it's reading I'm not on the electoral roll as that's still in my maiden name as the council don't update it till next month. I need it to all tie up as I'm picking up my new car in 2 weeks and the finance was originally agreed in my maiden name (when the car was ordered 12 weeks ago) and I don't want them to revoke their offer because my married name file looks rubbish.

    Thanks guys.

You could have saved yourself a lot of trouble by not changing your name so soon. My wife hasn't changed her name at all and the only trouble I forsee would be if we have kids and she needs to travel with them alone, and their birth certificates are lost.

Note that I will only thank genuinely helpful posts so please do not be offended by this
Sorry to sidetrack the thread but I just noticed your sig. I'm puzzled why you feel that anyone might be offended by this. I also thank helpful posts and, to the best of my knowledge, nobody has ever complained.
