I can only speak from experience too and I have had no knowledge of any jobs from the JC as they do not get them and definitely do not set up people for interviews as that's not what they do.

What experience is that then, did you work at the job centre, did you work in HR.

In my experience, they did get them and they DID set up interviews and that's what they did with my company. I have already said so............
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Someone said on here before if you were 60 or over you could apply for pension credit. I dont know all the inns and outs of that but you could ask.
Also at over 50 it is incredibly difficult to get another job and over 60 I would say unless your in a very specialized field or a friends employing you then your chances are very slim.

To claim JSA for benefit and/or NI credits you would have to seek and be available for full time work.

I wondered if anyone knew ?.

If I started signing on I don't think I could actually claim anything would just be for my 'stamp'.

If there are any other benefits to me going can you tell me please.
I am looking for a part-time job but look on the Gov website and others on a daily basis.

I rang the local Job Centre number just and after a few mins a woman answered, I asked her this very basic question thinking she would give me an answer but all she did was ask for my postcode and straightaway tried to pass me through to somewhere else. After a few minutes I was directed to an engaged tone which duely cut me off!
Why don't you try phoning few more times or go into office & speak to someone on counter to find someone helpful.

My dad is 62 and out of work, he gets pension credit, which is more than jobseekers allowance. Try putting your details into http://www.entitledto.co.uk/ to see what you might be entitled to.
