I probably don't remember that bit of the phone call as it was only 15 minutes after the accident and I was very upset at the time.

I am trying to find my last insurance details to see if I have legal cover. I amy have opted out to save money. Just my luck after years of paying it if I have opted out.

I phoned Cogent Law and was told someone would ring me back shortly. 7 hours later I was still waiting for the call. Perhaps they will not bother as I said was OK physically but not psychologically, so they may think they have nothing to pursue to make money out of.

Why is legal cover an issue?.

Sounds like you are hoping/looking for some sort of pay out.

I am not looking for a pay out. I just need to cover my losses including a a three quarters full tank of petrol which is not taken into account in the valuation. I have heard that if you have legal cover the insurance company will pursue the other party for the excess and are more likely to fight your corner for you.

If you haven't got legal cover they are not very interested and are more likely to decide it was a 50/50 responsibility and leave you to sort things out for yourself and I wouldn't know where to start.

3/4 of a tank of fuel, yep i'm sure they will pay you that back if you have the receipt from your last fill up.
Also make sure you measure how much tread is left on the tyres and claim for each mill above the legal limit of 1.6 mm you have not used.

How long ago was the oil changed?. If it was recent, ask them to return it as it will be good for your next car.

You can't claim for the tyres, having tyres that are legal is part of the cost of running a car and legal tyres are assumed in the car's valuation. The same applies to the oil although obviously it's not a legal requirement

I was actually taking the mick.

    Went straight over your head.

Maybe I should of said to claim for the air in the tyres as well, to make it more obvious.

When an insurance company decides on the value of your car, how much fuel is in the tank, does not come into the equation either.
  • Cogent Law won't be coldcalling in the literal sense.

The OP would have signed upto legal assistance or LEI which comes as standard with a lot of insurance policies now or alternatively hasn't opted out of marketing from other companies when taking out her insurance policy.

You won't be getting anything for psychological i.e. shock on it's own

I was in a RTA as a passenger (named driver) it wasnt our fault, other driver admitted liabilty.
    I am still having treatment!

    As for Cogent LAW......KEEP AWAY!!!

I have to SUE FOR NEGILENCE!!!

They LIED TO THE COURTS, DELETE FILES !!! I knew nothing. They never kept me updated!!. I wrote to them several times a year, everytim I had treatment etc, and asked for updates - NO REPLIES. I made complaints to them - NO REPLIES. In the end I complained several times to OMBUDSMAN!! eventually got a reply.....no not truth!!

Was told a questionnaire was not submitted, Then went to COURT and FOUND OUT THE TRUTH!!!!!

SO NO COMP Judge tells me to sue for Negilience and Comp.

They should'nt be able to delete files as measure are in place - but they were! - NOT just MINE - BUT other clients too!!!
