Waterproofing Chipboard

Hi, we have recently had a loft conversion done (quite a nice job actually). The shower room has a chipboard floor (as does everywhere else) and I'm going to put down some of those self adhesive vinyl tiles that you get in packs from Focus. I have used them before and they aren't too bad, their main advantage is that they are cheap and easy to lay (reminds me of a girl I used to know...I digress). My question is, what should I use, if anything, to seal the floor before fitting them?
Cheers

When we had some built-in wardrobes made of MDF, we went to one of the big chains (Focus I think) and they had some sealing stuff especially for boards of various types. Looked like thin white paint, went on easily and smoothly and did the job. Perhaps a good oldfashioned hardware/ironmongers shop would be the ideal place to ask. Hope that helps.0

Try thinned PVA adhesive, at least two coats. Allow to dry thoroughly between coats and don't over-thin, most floor sealers are PVA based and twice the price of the raw adhesive.0

ideally should have used marine ply for the shower room floor.
but you can make the chipboard very waterproof by using epoxy resin as they use on boats. not as cheap as pva glue nor as easy to apply, but far better.
these peeps will give you advice. well known in the diy/boating trade.
