Exactly my point....why not just ring npower ( when answering times are at a minimum ) and cut out the middle man.

I took a different route & contacted the Npower rep on here & they then rang (and emailed) me almost immediately. ;)

Nice one, hope everything goes smoothly for you from now on .
  • I've received 4 x 'Thankyou for switching' emails today from CEC, perhaps a representative has read this post and re-submitted the application.

TD Eye - are you able to provide me with contact details for the Npower rep on here ?

I don't fancy waiting 6 weeks before knowing as to whether or not a switch has worked...

What I want to know is why my switching application is still listed as "active" even though it completed nearly 3 months ago and I also have the cashback already. I can't even enter my correct tariff details or do a comparison right now because of this.
  • I not only failed to be switched via CEC, but when, after patiently waiting 8 weeks for my application to process, I wrote to CEC to find out why, I received no response at all. What a joke, I'll stick to doing my own research from now on.

Mine was the same, it didn't update until about 6 months after I switched.

The whole process is very painful. I never received any paperwork relating to my switch and I had to email CEC about 15 times before they finally paid my cashback, months after it was due.

I would definitely warn others to think twice before using CEC to switch.
  • I may have a similar problem where the Cheap Energy Club doesn't seem to have forwarded on my switch request successfully. Back in mid-August, I tried to switch from EDF (because my fixed rate was ending in September and didn't want to go onto their standard rate) to Sainsbury's Energy, but apart from one e-mail from the CEC, I haven't heard anything else back from anyone and it's been almost 5 weeks now.

Rang Sainsbury's and they said they have no record of my switch, but the person on the phone admitted they don't always get that info on her system until right before the switch happens, so it may still be in the pipeline, but it's just the not knowing whether it is or not that's a real pain.

Whenever I've switched manually or via one of the other price comparision websites in the past, I've at the very least heard back from either my new or old supplier within two weeks, even if the actual switch took longer than that to happen. Concerned that if it takes any longer, I'll end up on EDF's pricey Standard tariff...

Agreed, next time I'll be using a proper comparison site once I've found the deal I want.
