I am just about to embark on painting all our internal doors and skirting boards.
Am I best to use silk or just emulsion?
Thanks for all your comments and advise.

We usually paint the woodwork with gloss. My OH has a thing for liquid gloss.
It is the walls that we paint with emulsion. I prefer the matt. Don't like it too shiny.
Hope this helps.De cluttering Konvert.Getting there

neither , you need to decide what finish you want , if you want a shiny finish then you need gloss , mid sheen -satinwood or flat finish eggshell,
the wood will need the knots sealed with knotting to stop them bleeding thru and then priming , use a water based undercoat / primer for this , then if you are glossing , give them another coat or 2 of u/c and then a top coat of gloss , or if you are using e/s or s/w then 2 coats should do the trick
you can get waterbased versions of these if you don't want your house to smell of solvents , ask at your local builders merchant for which stuff you need, go for dulux, johnstones etc and you will be fine0
