What does "resolving host" mean?

I have been getting this message for the past couple of days on just about every internet page that I try and click onto. The little Google chrome circle just slowly turns and more often than not I get a message that it could not load the page:mad:

I have tried switching off the router and restarting it, but no difference.

What could be causing this?

Thanks.

I just got the "try reloading page" message when I clicked submit on this:(

Usually it means that your browser can't communicate with the remote server that translates internet addresses into the numbers that the computers on the internet use.

Who's your ISP? Their 'DNS Server' might be up the creek.

you could have a compromised browser, system, or firewall issues

    I would start at https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/133269

However running malwarebytes and making sure your virus checker is up to date and do a scan cures many of the problems.

I have run a full Malwarebytes scan and full Kaspersky scan but nothing found at all.

I hope it's the beeb, edited cos I hit the wrong button, I was expecting the OP to say they were on TalkTalk, there has been a lot of strange going ons with DNS because of the "safety" and "stopping inappropriate content" and other Government initiatives to make the web a chinese whisper

Yes, you should change your DNS settings to OpenDNS or GoogleDNS
