dvd re-writer question

Hi guys I am a complete numpty when it comes to computers.

My question is this

Do all dvd re-writers also write to cd?

I only ask as my hard drive is getting clogged up with music and video clips and so i would like to install a re-writer and transfer some files to disc.

Thanks in advance

    Yes.

SVP are a good supplier for DVD-burners and discs.

Pioneer, NEC and LiteOn are the ones to look at.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

I'd go with pioneer and Lite-on - NEC drives have given me huge problems in the past (replacing the drive twice a year at some stages).

But yeah, all writers will do CDs.

I'll keep a note of the NEC problems you had, I have heard of someone else having problems, but put it down to bad luck as others had been happy.

I usually go with Pioneer, but have been happy with the LiteOns I've installed for people.

Just to confuse the issue, I had a NEC drive in my old PC for about 3 years, no problems whatsoever. I have heard bad things about Sony drives though. There was a thread a coupel of days ago about DVD rewriters, may be worth reading that as well.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die
