Expedia refund policy

The refund policy for Expedia is shocking! Having booked a hotel for end of december I noticed that I would be left a little short for the month so decided to cancel (and re-book for a later date). Now the cancelling bit was easy and no cancellation charge, what astonished me was that they said it might take up to 2 weeks for the money to get refunded into my account! Anyone else cancelled with expedia and able to advise when they got refunded??

If I need to cancel my hotel reservation, will I receive a refund?
You can cancel your hotel reservation* through your itinerary on Expedia.co.uk. Before you make any changes or cancellations, please check the rules and restrictions associated with the hotel and room type booked to determine whether you are eligible for a refund. The rules and restrictions are located at the bottom of your itinerary.
While Expedia does not charge fees for changes or cancellations, some hotels may impose non-refundable fees in accordance with their own policies that Expedia is required to pass on to you. Please note that some room types are fully non-refundable from the time they are booked. Additionally, hotels will generally charge a higher fee if cancellation occurs within 24 to 48 hours of the scheduled arrival. Rules vary by hotel and room type, so it is important to check the rules associated with your booking.
If you have booked a refundable hotel room, we will process your refund on the day of your cancellation. Most credit card companies will credit the refund to your account within one to two weeks and to your statement within one to two billing cycles. If you do not see the proper amount on your credit card statement after two billing cycles, call Expedia Customer Support at 0330 123 1235.
*Please note that Expedia Secret Saver hotel reservations cannot be changed and are fully non-refundable.0 -
Refunds to credit cards can always take 1-2 weeks, it's nothing to do with expedia, they're just telling you that that's how long credit cards can take to process refunds.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I didn't use a credit card I used a debit card (don't know if it makes a difference). I've had refunds in the past with my card and has never took this long0

I cancelled a hotel booking a couple of weeks ago and Expedia refunded within a few days.

It's probably the same as the "please allow up to 21 days for delivery" (and sometimes longer than 21 days)stated by many sellers of mail order delivery goods.
The large majority of items arrive in a far shorter time, but they just give the 21 day time in order to cover themselves for the times when something does get delayed.0
