5 year Warranty or not!

I have a fagor washing machine, paid for, according to my credit card statement on 22.09.08. I have it written down that delivery was on the 29.09.08. It has developed a fault and I rang Fagor to claim under 5 year warranty, only to be told that I had ordered it on 28.08.08 and the warranty ran out on 28.08.13. I tried to argue that the 5 year warranty should start from the delivery of the item but was quoted terms and conditons of warranty state it is the order date that the warranty is based on!I have been told that I registered the item online and put the purchase date as 28.08.08. I cannot argue this as I have no proof, but I can only assume I made an error filling in date during online registration. I bought online via a 3rd party who no longer trade as far as I can tell. I do not have an invoice, just an email which is not good enough for Fagor.
I have written to Fagor head office suggesting that the warranty should start from delivery if the customer is to get a 5 year warranty otherwise, you have a warranty for something you do not actually have and do not acutally get a 5 year warranty!
Has anyone else come accross this logic?

A warranty is a contractual thing not a statutory thing and so they can define what the commencement date is however they want, pretty much.
Generally speaking it is easy to document the date of purchase because you get an invoice for it pretty much wherever you buy from. Date of delivery would be much harder to track/ prove due to different companies using different delivery methods etc. So there certainly is a logic to it and ultimately it wouldnt really matter if there wasnt0 -
OP, generally most warranties start from the date the item was purchased, not delivered. At the end of the day you must have given them the date when you registered the warranty so you don't really have much to complain about.0
