I successfully completed an on-line current account application with the new TSB. Does anyone know what the time-scale is for them coming back to me with a decision ?

I don't know but the vibes are not good so far. I tried to apply online on Sunday, but kept getting the "try again later" message after I'd put in all the info. I applied again on Tuesday evening and got a message "once we've approved your application we'll send you a welcome pack" This surprised me as I've always had an immediate acceptance with current account applications before. I then saved what was described as a pdf copy of my application and found that it had an allocation to a branch in it. Unfortunately this was a branch in a town 20 miles away not the one a mile away that I wanted (there was no offer to pick a branch as Lloyds had in their online application process). I tried to head off the wrong branch problem by ringing 0845 353863 which was the number on the screen to ring if I had any questions. Somebody answered immediately but she said she only dealt with general enquiries and tried to transfer me to "online banking". She came back a few minutes later to say "online banking" were very busy and had long delays, so she suggested I ring back the next day. I haven't done anything about it yet as I'm waiting to see if anything turns up in the next few days. Not holding my breath, though.0

I stopped holding my breath. Walked into local branch today and opened three accounts there and then. Much more straightforward.0

I applied online twice and technical problems meant it didn't work so I went into branch and did it there. Yesterday I got a letter from TSB apologising for the failed attempts so at least some information got through to them. A bit annoying but nothing that was too difficult, and I could select the exact branch I wanted.0

The number you need to call for online applications queries is 0845 835 7509.
The application process is not live at the moment and the applications are being keyed by humans manually.
However you will get dn instant decision by doing the application over the telephone in most cases.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

They do offer an alternative for telephone banking:
To manage your money please call Telephone Banking on 08459 758 758. We're open 24/7.
If you need to call us from abroad, or prefer not to use our 08459 number, you can also call Telephone Banking on +44 (0) 2032 841 575Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
On my on-line application it stated that if successful I should receive my internet banking details within 1-5 days with the remainder of the literature in 1-7 days. Prior to my on-line application I did phone them, but the agent said he couldn't process it because he couldn't validate my details. As I live in Northern Ireland it'll be interesting to see what kind of result I achieve. With Lloyds and Band of Scotland there was no problem at all. Thanks for the replies.0
