Parking at Westfields, Shepherds Bush

I am going by train to Edinburgh next week and have figured that it could be cheaper to drive into London from home (about 60 miles), park the car at Westfields from Monday to Saturday at a potential cost of £32 than it is to get the train into London and back!!

Before I phone Westfields and ask them, does anyone have any experience and know whether this would be allowable? I have armed at Westfields before and gone into London but only for the day.

I don't think it will be £32. I think you would be charged the day rate x the amount of days as it is £6ish for 2 hours.
    Hopefully I'm wrong though.

Flat rate of £5 per weekday, and £8 on a weekend day, so it would be £33 for Monday to Saturday (£5 x 5 + £8 x 1).

However, looking at the term and conditions, you should inform the office if you intend leaving the car more than 48 hours (section 4), and they may dispose of the car if you leave it more than 5 days (section 6), unless it's parked with a season ticket (no details on the website), so you may find a deal if you park if for 6 days, though £33 isn't bad.

  • driving from london to another town can easily take an hour because london traffic is so bad.

London is also probably the most expensive place to park. just getting from a tube station to westfields car park can take 10-15 minutes, you generally have to walk from car park to shopping mall and then find the pedestrian route out to outdoor area.

Sometimes for a long journey like london to edinburgh youy just want to get home. I would just take the hit with the cost and go direct from your home station to edinburgh.
  • Looking at the return train times from Paddington to Newbury, I have decided to drive to Basingstoke and get the Waterloo train.

On the Saturday I get to Euston at 1852 and I may manage to get home via Paddington by about 2230. If I get the Waterloo train, there are far more of them.
