Propping up the housing market is but one element.
No government will ever be able to cater for all in the country.
What they have to do is assess and implement what is best overall:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.

What they do is usually politically motivated.
It is one thing to try and stabilise the economy after a global shock it is another to cherry pick who benefits and who loses."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

If the all-powerful government has such control that they can fine tune who benefits and who doesn't why don't they make everyone better off? They'd win the next election hands down.0 -

I think the government are puppets and their job is to keep the ball rolling, preserve the establishment and the privileges it and they enjoy. All you have to do is look at the promises made and delivered to see that, anyone entertaining the idea any government has ordinary peoples interest first and foremost is deluded imo. They exploit peoples greed and selfishness to gain vote share but all this election malarkey is just a smoke screen to keep the plebs divided and the barons in clover.
The only tangible asset banks (unlike the crooks running them) have, that isn't a house of cards built on pretty much nothing, is property backed mortgage debt, a few tons of shiny metal and their shops, all the banks are effectively insolvent, either they go bust and take everything with them or someone has to be made to pay to clean up the mess they've created.
Right now that someone is savers, pensioners, those who are going to be helped to buy into the housing ponzi and of course as always "the future" since they're the only ones with any wealth that can be transferred, some might say stolen, and given to those in debt right now and unable to service that debt under normal market conditions. Mortgage welfare recipients are just reaping the benefits of this process in the short term but that's coincidental, it isn't being done for them it's being done to prop up and preserve insolvent banks and their ridiculous bonuses.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0 -

Vote for a party in the 'election malarkey' that has policies you support then.
Can't find one? Start one - half of people don't even bother to vote - maybe they've been waiting for just such an opportunity.
If you think there's a ponzi scheme happening report it to the FCA.0 -
Let's call it the housing ladder then if it tickles your sensibilities.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0

I know. It makes me chuckle that some of the same people who mock Gordon Brown for wanting to end boom and bust still think the government are capable of fine tuning house, oil and bread prices.
By holding interest rates down and QE there is no need to fine tune you can just make some big swipes at it."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

There would be no mileage in making everybody better off there would no one to blame."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
