Expedia & Emirates flight cancellation

Options
Hi

Looking for advice, I want to change a flight but thought it would just be easier to cancel it/rebook. I booked through Expedia and on my email its says in bold ticket is refundable.

Now I assumed there would be a cost but no where on Expedia.co.uk does it tell me. So phoned the airline they said they don't know as its a special ticket. Phoned again and quoted $75 dollars. Meanwhile Expedia say its £100 but don't advise during the booking process as the airlines changes it all the time.

So anyone cancelled before with them, is it $75 or £100?

Thanks

when you book through an agent you are often bound by their conditions in addition to the airlines fees.
    However Expedia states
We do not charge a fee for changes or cancellations to flights (including flights booked as part of a package). However, we will pass on any fees for changes or cancellations imposed by the relevant airline in accordance with its terms and conditions. These fees will be listed in the airline rules and restrictions, which you can find on your itinerary.

Thanks but they are not listed and the reason I have been given as Emirates change them to much.
  • How can it be "easier" to cancel and rebook?

    One fee to cancel.

One fee to change the flight plus additional fee's for the flight difference.

    A lot cheaper to rebook.
  • It's a no brainer then

At least get a quote for re-booking: my guess is that it will end up costing less. (I have often changed dates on Emirates without charge, but always booked directly rather than through Expedia.)
  • In Economy class from uk the lowest cancellation fee I have seen is £100 to cancel and £75 fee to change ticket. I know tickets ex Dubai have different terms. As your ticket is refundable this suggests to me that you are book in a higher booking class so if you are just changing the dates of travel, it might just be easier to change rather than cancel and rebook. If you are changing destination, then a cancel and rebook would properly be the best way to go as some tickets do not permit reroutes.

have you priced up the new flights? If it is cheaper than the ticket you have paid for I would cancel and rebook. Or phone the airline to see if the same booking classes are available and change for a fee, if same booking classes are available then there will be no increase in fare, maybe small increase in tax (normally less than £5).
