Payment Question

Hello everyone -
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question, so I'm sorry if it isn't.
I'm heading to New York in October, and whilst I'm there I was thinking of catching a show on Broadway. I've found someone through Twitter who is willing to sell me their tickets.
Now, I was originally going to pay via PayPal in order to protect myself if anything goes wrong - but I've just phoned them to ask if this is the case and they've informed me that there is no buyer protection for tickets.
Assuming this is right, is there any other way of transferring the money that would give me some protection? Or am I going to have to just uh, "suck it up" for want of a better phrase?
Thanks!

Don't bother.
Buy through official channels. Ticketmaster.com is probably a good start.0 -
+1 for what visidigi says...the chances are it'll will end in tears. There's probably more chance you'll be scammed than not.0

There are plenty of secondary markets that allow people to dispose of unwanted tickets. Quite why someone would use Twitter in favour of these is beyond me - unless there was something untoward going on....Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Thanks for the advice guys and girls.
There isn't anything untoward about using Twitter. She's a friend of a friend and has no use for the tickets. They might as well go to be rather than being disused.
I'd use Ticketmaster, but the fees are extortionate. I dislike using them even for British productions, so I'd assume the exchange rate would be ridiculous as well.
I've looked in to it, and it seems like the best way is probably using an Escrow service. They'll ensure I get the tickets and give me protection if something goes wrong. Thanks all!0 -
Oh... why didn't you tell us you knew the seller? Thanks for the advice guys and girls.

Buying tickets at a bargain rate from an unknown person, which is what everyone here reasonably assumed, is not a good idea.
You have now added new information.0 -
Well, to be fair, I still don't "know her" as she lives in the US. As I said. She's a friend of someone who follows me, and she was the one that contacted me about the tickets.
I didn't mean to leave that out, many apologies if it has confused anyone.0 -
Is this "someone who follows me" someone you personally know? Or only know through Twitter? If the latter, how is that person even a friend?
(To me, a friend is someone I know in real life. Or at least someone I have known for many years if we've never physically met).0 -
Send her your money and then hope the tickets arrive.

Certainly dont do this.Computersaysno wrote: »Send her your money and then hope the tickets arrive.

What you should do is go to the TKTS booth in Times Square for reduced tickets. It is the same as the booth in Leicester Square London.
