Royal Mail - Fee to pay

Good afternoon my lovelies,

Just received a card in the post from Royal Mail stating that the sender didn't pay the full postage (9p) and that I have to pay a handling fee of £1 plus the 9p to collect the item.
Anyone else get a card like this today? will be tapping the sender on the wrist once I find out who they are! unless of course its a huge cheque ;) x

  • The bleeders!!!!!!

Let us know what it was.
Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £29,419.76
  • It is *so* frustrating, isn't it?!
To add salt, the offender is usually my mum, sending odds & bits of paper I do not want.
The silver lining is I have learned to be really careful myself...
  • My car dealership did this once.

Sent out a crud load of marketing envelopes, didn't frank any of them.

It was not a happy day to find out I just paid abput £1.45 and a trip to the post office just to receive an ad!

charge items are manually handled.so costs come up
They are audited through the mail stream(as in RM world they become cash in terms of accounts)
    This involves added work
and there has to be a punitive value, otherwise why bother with a stamp?

I understand all that but am annoyed I have no choice but to pay it and don't agree with it and will not until they provide a proper service I don't know how many times ive paid recorded and yet they don't bother to get a sig, they've lost post, ive had parcel and a couple letters arrived open, until they provide a proper service don't feel they should add charges for someone who has slightly got payment wrong. When they do something wrong they don't make it easy for you to recoup your loss and im not allowed to add a handling fee for my bother.

    You have every choice
All this maligning the service is moot
it has nothing to do with charging underpaid items
RM charge a fraction of underpaid items
    this will change
  • no I don't have a choice cant get to my collection office and this could be something very important so no choice ive had to pay.
