PPI success but struggling to find old account details

I have recently made a successful claim against HSCB using the support form these forums.

However, I had details of the account number for this bank.

Prior to this (about 10 years ago), I have a student account with credit card with Barlcays and prior to that I have credit cards and current account with Natwest.

I have struggled to get the bank details for these accounts and I dont have any old statements.
I tried going through BBA.org and supplied my maiden, married name, date of birth and previous addresses but have had responses that neither bank recognises my details.

Has anyone had the same problem and can you help me locate my old account details so that I can try and make claims with my old banks before it is too late?

you need to send a SAR and £10to each institution to see what's left. See the front page sticky for a template. Provide as much info as you can with past addresses etc.

If nothing comes bacl, they have destroyed records and your complaints are over. If something does, away you go.

As -taff says, you could write a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter to each bank which costs £10 for each. The Bank has to respond with all details they have kept on file for you for at least six years and (sometimes) more.

Unfortunately, the fact that the Banks have already written to say they could find no trace of you from the information you provided would seem to indicate that any SAR letters will probably return nothing either.
If you still wish to risk the £10, there is an excellent SAR template here:

bba is the banking and financial services. It is't a claims company.

And if she originally just wrote and asked, they wouldn't supply anything. The chances are there is enough info left to make a complaint.
