Train ticket machine swallowed my money and didn't give me my ticket?

Machine at Paddington took £7.15 of my money and never gave me my ticket, no one could help and I was told to go to the ticket office. This had already caused me to miss one train and I had to buy a second ticket. I gave them my details and they said they'd get in touch in a few days.

However I just wrote my details on a scrap of paper, and as the machine took my money and have me nothing I have no proof that I bought the ticket. I know it's 7 quid but I'm a student on an incredibly tight budget paying 7 quid for a 45 minute journey (even with a railcard which I paid for).

Do I have a hope of arguing enough to get my Money back? Out of sheer principle I want it back!

How long did you wait for the ticket? Had it when I have bought an extension at Paddington to my season ticket and the ticket hasn't come out and it came out with the next ticket bought by another customer, has happened a few times now

About 10 minutes and then spent more time in the ticket office queuing but really needed to go home and had to leave I think I'll start buying from the ticket office from now on. No one else bought a ticket from the machine whilst I was there.
