in Credit cards
Hi all
I am new to the forum.
My question is I have an aqua card and I paid my balance in full through my bank using the bank giro credit, I paid with cash. When I check my statement with Aqua online it says payment recieved with thanks on 4th September. This morning I checked my account and my balance has not reflected the payment I made. Phoned aqua who tell me they receive payment by cheque??
Please can anyone help me?
Thanks

Cash does sometimes take time to clear.
You need to clarify with them how long it takes for a cash payment to clear.
The on-line interfaces are not instantaneous, they can take a couple of days to update.
I think you need to clarify whether the cash payment hasn't actually cleared or whether it's simply the case that the on-line system your looking at just takes a few days to update.
Is there any reason you can't pay on-line using faster payments?
This works very quickly although to see it updated on-line takes a few days.0 -
Hi
I tried to pay by faster payment but it kept refusing to accept payment (checked with my bank and I had sufficient funds to pay).
I wanted to make sure money got there in time so went to bank and paid over the counter. I got in touch with aqua and they told me they receive all payments by cheque from the bank and they take 7 working days to clear from when they receive the payment. I asked my bank and they said if I paid by cash then it would be sent by that method. So upset as I really want to improved credit rating.

Technical explanation coming up, sorry: Whether cheque or cash, payments made in the bank using a payment slip go through a system called Bank Giro Credit. If you pay with a cheque, the slip is a "credit" against a "debit", specifically your cheque. If you pay with cash, what happens is the bank uses your "credit" but makes their own "debit" to represent your cash in the clearing system - essentially, a cheque drawn on one of your bank's internal accounts.
To Aqua therefore, it looks like a cheque going through their systems. Your bank are very confused, and wrong in the respect that it would be "sent as cash" (there is no such thing) but haven't done anything wrong as such, and neither have Aqua. It's just how the system works.
The quickest and best way to make any credit card payment is by bank transfer, which will reach the other side within two hours and be reflected on the balance as cleared within a couple of days at most. Paying with cash isn't instant. I think the reason your payment was rejected was that Aqua have recently changed bank details, and some banks have not updated their records. It may be worth checking this with your bank - it may well be their fault that the payment didn't go through if this is the case.urs sinserly,

Does it really take 7 working days?
I always pay using my Bank (actually giving them a cheque and handing the slip and my cheque), and it always get to Aqua within three working days, and comes off my account on the same day it arrives on there side.
I never been charged interest, and I've been paying like this since February.
With this said, I have noticed that for the first month, Aqua have applied the Bank Giro as 'Uncleared Funds', but I have checked, and they said it won't charge me interest, and that it will clear soon.Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!0 -

I've always paid using faster payments and notice that if I pay during the working day, it can literally take a few hours and Aqua's online system is updated to show the credit, where as if I pay at night it's typically the next morning before it shows up. I've spent over £1000 some days even though my credit limit is £500 by spending and then crediting and then waiting for my available credit to change before spending again.0
