Shoot: eBay announces it's free listing days here: (Link) The next eBay free listing day is today! (Link)
Remember that eBay now take 10% off your postage costs too as part of the Final Value Fee. See Martin's weekly email at the top of this page for details.
Shoot: I used to work in the banking industry. First Direct came top for customer service time and time again. (Link) I recently opened accounts with them and it was really easy. However, I had to close them when my situation changed and they were no longer the type of account I needed. Shame, they'd been great. Their website never let me down.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Wotcha Money Savers,
Another busy productive morning here, squirrelling stuff away for winter.
Small positive things today:
*Ironing. Switched off for last item. Is ironing my worst job? Hmmm. Think cleaning the car might just top it........Oh hang on.....degunking the oven, yes that's the biggie.
*Stored plum jam made yesterday away in the pantry.
*Made damson & apple jelly.
*Made a pasta bake for the freezer using some of our tomatoes & other home grown produce which needed using up, also put in some ham found lurking in the fridge not needed for packed lunches now as mr f knocks off tonight for a bit.
*Skinned & chopped more tomatoes in food pro & froze 3 more containers of those.
*Froze a few more of the last chillies & added the rest to my string which is hanging up to dry.
*Made bread.
*Did a few surveys.
*Took pork & butterbean stew out of freezer for dinner.....from a previous bit of rubber pork activity.....ooooh er, Missis ;-)
Still to do:
*Pick chard for braising with garlic later.
*Decide what food to take on camping trip & make list for buying in town tomorrow.
*Continue knitting Christmas present.
*Find cattery tariff so can have payment ready. Find cat immunisation record so they'll actually take him......or that will be a camp site deposit down the drain!
*Remember to ask mr f if he has heard any more about why his travel expenses didn't get paid last month. It appears to have disappeared into a convenient electronic black hole.
Think that's my lot for today.
MMM - Your lists are epic! And you've got a new Tiny to look after. Hope you manage to fit in at least a little bit of time for you as well.

Cheers Ally for the link to savings accounts - does anyone here bank with First Direct??? If so, any thoughts - thinking of primarily using it for the 6% regular saver...
I switched to First Direct in the late 90s, after having had more than a few problems in a short space of time with Barclays.
I can honestly say that I've never had a problem with First Direct in all the time I've been with them. I'd certainly recommend them.Debt free since December 2015. It can be done0 -

I switched to First Direct last month - on their 'get £100 for switching' deal. If only I'd waited until this month then I could have got £125!
But in all seriousness, I've been very very impressed. Their documents are in plain English and easy to understand and their switching process was completely painless. And they paid in the £100 pretty darn quick too.
I was with HSBC before, who were fine but fancied the £100 incentive with First Direct - despite them still being part of HSBC.
My joint account with my husband is with Barclays and they are flippin' awful - I've never known a company make every simple thing so completely arduous. Honestly, the only reason we're with them is for the good £15 per month package they give us with the account for travel/phone insurance, breakdown, etc. If they removed this product then I'd be switching that account quicker than a bullet out of a gun.Barclaycard (0% until May 2014):[STRIKE]£1,365.61[/STRIKE]£1,178.05

Warm Home Discount Scheme
Someone was just telling me that lots of people are eligible to a £135 reduction on their electricity bill from the government.
The money is paid by the government straight into your electricity account.
You are eligible if you are a pensioner on Guarantee Credit or of working age and claiming certain state benefits. Eligibility varies from supplier to supplier.

* Worked half hour extra
* Had a No Spend Day
* Checked bank accounts, all as expected
* Listing some stuff on the bay tonight
* Eating from stores
* Avoiding putting heating on so wearing extra layer as raining
* Keeping my spends diary enthusiastically, week two, still on track with that
Early days for me, MSE wise, but pleased at the direction I'm travelling in.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0
