When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free. .
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending :money:

Hi gang!!
Well, it's a grey and dreary day here, which has put paid to some of my plans!! Not to worry though - hoping to have a bit of time to chill before work!
Today's list:
Check banking & skim into savings
30-Day Shred DVD and start the ab challenge - definitely starting to see a bit of definition and tone coming now - would recommend the DVD, it's easy to follow and quick to do!
Swim on membership - will try and get a quick mile done before breakfast - cycle/walk via marina to the pool, also shower and do hair there!!
Breakfast and lunch from stores
Dig out boots and old rugby kit ready for match on Sunday - hoping I shouldn't need any new kit!
File some paperwork & research opening a regular savings account!!
Quick tidy round and clean - resist putting the heating on!!
Start photographing the mountain of clothes brought home from M&D's for eBay!!
Anyone know when there's free listings?
Lift share to work with colleague, take dinner and drinks with me
NSD!!
Think that's about it from me! Hope everyone has a great day!! Xxx:T DEBT FREE AS OF APRIL 2013! :T"I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul"0 -
Morning everyone. Thanks MMM for starting the thread.
DNMS, hope you are feeling better today.
Going to a free language taster session in town this evening. I'm thinking about learning German, which I studied for a while at school almost 30 years ago, before taking French a my O level, but now I do have to go to Germany occasionally for work.
I cant get help from my company with the course fees as I'm only on a short term contract, and our clients speak English anyway, but I would like to improve my knowledge of the languge for when I'm in non-work situations, so I hope it's useful to get this free taster session before signing up to pay £200 for a years course. Especially as I'm not convinced at what level I should be studying.
Other than that it's just the normal stuff from me.
Have a great day allDebt free since December 2015. It can be done0 -
Morning! In good spirits today. Despite being a spendy day due things I have to buy I am saving by:
Making a packed lunch for DS and I instead of buying lunch.
As I'm in the city for a group I help run I am going to do all my shopping at the same time thus saving petrol.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Morning everyone - and thanks MMM for starting us off

So today I am doing the following:
*Hunting around in the 'spare things' drawer at home for AA batteries for my alarm clock - you can guess what didn't work this morning!
*Taken last night's homemade pizza leftovers into work for lunch today
*NSD
*Walk the dogs in the rain this evening
*Defrost chicken in fridge overnight to stick in slow cooker tomorrow
*Clean out rabbit litter tray with donated used newspapers from work colleague & wood shavings bought in bulk last week
*Phone the Post Office and find out where my final bill for homephone and broadband is after promising it for weeks - I know they owe me money!
*Catch up on Eastenders
Have a good day everyone!Barclaycard (0% until May 2014):[STRIKE]£1,365.61[/STRIKE]£1,178.05

Morning all,
Well, I've a lot on my list today and I slept in. Oops. And I'd like to tie up a lot of things today. And came down this morning to find that OH had accidentally left some food out the freezer overnight so that'll need cooking today.
Thanks MMM for starting
Karb: If you live in Scotland you might be eligible for an Individual Learning Account grant of £200 from Skills Development. (Link) Or in Wales I think they may have reintroduced them. (Link)
Perni: I hope you have a good day today.
Shoot: You might find help on savings rates from Martin here. (Link)
The List:
:staradmin Grease blind mechanism that is so stiff you need Wonderwoman to operate it. Done. Something was caught in the mechanism.
:staradmin Put wee shelf back up ourselves instead of paying a Trade to do it. Neighbour was hammering next door at 6am and it fell down. Repair photo frame that fell to the floor as a result.
Done.
:staradmin Decide what to do with broken Freeview box. Listed on eBay for spares or repairs. Free listing day.
:staradmin Clean house using just the products we have in store. Done.
:staradmin Teach OH some MS Excel skills as she has forgotten everything she ever knew about the programme and is job-seeking office work. Done.
:staradmin Keep trying to repair torch. Mechanism still well and truly stuck.
:staradmin Look at warranty for malfunctioning printer. Expired. Will need to try to repair myself.
:staradmin Identify things in basket in freezer. OH has frozen small bags of I-dont-know-what. Done.
:staradmin Dispose of tree I felled the other day. Can't pouring with rain.
:staradmin Shower after I've done the housework. Done.
:staradmin Washing on quick wash and dry outside. Done. Dried inside on airer as it's pouring.
:staradmin Book theatre tickets with vouchers if we can agree on what to see.
:staradmin Seal small whole in ceiling above shower before it gets worse. Done.
:staradmin Write to Sky TV to get a dispute resolved. Keep putting this off.
:staradmin Open separate Facebook account and email account to try my hand at comping.
:staradmin See if local library has "Takeaway Secret" by Kenny McGovern (Link) available. We make our own fakeaways but this looks interesting. Thanks for the heads up fellow Small Things money-saver! Reserved!
:staradmin Recycle batteries. Not exactly money-saving, but definitely planet-saving.
:staradmin Do the "J" word.
:staradmin See if I can glue the back of my mobile phone back together. I dropped it.
Done.
Freebies:
:staradmin Free Liberte yoghurt through Facebook. Print yourself or have it posted to you by clicking "Print" then "Don't Have A Printer". (Link) On sale in Tesco.
