Missed payments on Credit File

This is my first post on moneysavingexpert.com

I have 7 missed payments on 3 different accounts in 2011, Two of them being 3 months Late. It was just because of my own stupidity and laziness, they late payments were such as £12 pound which went upto 52 and the other account was of a smiler sort (less than 100). and one payment for 75 late. Actually I was into my final year in Engineering and was in a lots of stress then, but I know there is no excuse for such a behaviour.

Any way fast forward to present.

Now I am in a very stable job and have not missed any payment since 2011, and my credit score is fair

I just wanted to know, Can I get a mortgage on this score with high street banks with previous record of mine?

Actually I can get a sub prime mortgage but I don't want to get a mortgage with higher interest rate and charges.

I think you're going to struggle. Many lenders will let you get away with one or two missed payments, but seven is a bit excessive. You might find someone willing to lend to you but it won't be that easy I don't think.

Run this question past the brokers on the mortgage board.

No idea based on such little info.

To start off with, how much deposit do you have saved up and what is the property value?

you state you know you can get a subprime mortgage - who suggested this - presumably a broker? In which case what have they said about high street options?

I wouldn't say this was the reason you missed the payments to a potential lender if they ask!

'It was just because of my own stupidity and laziness'

    Go onto the mortgage board

    Thank you for your replys

    Andy (

    1) I am looking to buy 250,000 house with 50,000 deposit 20%
    2) Yes it was broker who can get me a subprime mortgage (Saffaron Building Society)
    3) To get a high Street Bank I need to wait 1 more year to get in a situation where these payments are three years old which has very less impact on my mortgage appliciton. (advice by mortgage broker).

    )

Samtoby (What should i say to mortgage lenders then ? )

But these payments are not for credit accounts or loans these are un-authorized overdraft at time. Does it still effect my ability to get mortgage ? Even though I still have loan (which i have paid off) and credit cards which i have not missed a single payment.

I don't get why you've approached a mortgage professional for advice (who has your full details/circumstances etc) then come here for input? Not having a go or anything, I just don't get what you're wanting to achieve.
  • Is this wrong to get another opinion or advise ? I am first time buyer and only being to one mortgage broker and want to get as much opinion as possible to better understand my circumstances.

I don't thing there is any thing wrong with it.
