I agree, you need to take tablets which contain both Glucosamine AND chondratin and these can take a few months to kick in.

If you want to take an holistic approach then devils claw is good for reducing inflammation.

Lots of information here, go googling there's loads of information but be warned it's all confusing:rolleyes: :D

I have tried Glucosamine found it no good, recently tried rosehip stuff from Boots found that no good either, sorry to sound so gloomy but wish you the best anyway.

I meant to post a link here and forgot :D

When joints are not too painful I find exercise good too.
Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

May I suggest you obtain a copy of The Arthritic's Cookbook by Colin H Dong. The first part of the book explains osteoarthritis very clearly.

After one month of sticking to the diet a bed-ridden friend was able to run up and down stairs. The diet isn't easy but, as the author says, the choice is yours - pain or pain-free.

My library holds copies and I hope yours does too.

This depends on the policy of your local practice. Of course you can and should ask your doctor but some practices are reluctant to prescribe it, so don't be too disappointed if yours doesn't.

Also you should, if you are taking the recommended amount, notice an improvement in your symptoms. If you don't then it is pointless carrying on taking that formulation for more than 3 months. Either stop taking it and see if symptoms worsen or try a different brand which may be more effective for you.
