I am still paying a debt off from about 8years ago thats no longer mentioned on my credit report, there isnt much left to pay but they annoyed me so i just pay them £5 a month, i was wondering if i stopped paying for any reason could it re-appear on my credit report?
I certainly don't intend to stop paying it as ive worked very very hard to get my credit report looking good again to get a mortgage?

Yes, they could get a ccj and it would be on your file for 6 years.0

If there isn't much left try offering half the amount outstanding as a full and final settlement to finish it off. If they refuse just keep paying £5 a month.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

So they were good enough to lend you money and because you felt annoyed you just thought you would pay them £5 a month.
So who do you think the loser is here. You are, you've paid more interest for your tantrum, now you don't want to pay them back at all.
Its called cutting your nose off to spite your face.
Yes, eventually a CCJ which will trash your credit for even longer.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Not to mention your mortgage app. You have to declare ANY financial commitments. Debts, etc. So get it paid off.
Otherwise you will have to declare it on a mortgage app. As if you don't. It wouldn't be unknown for debt collectors to get spiteful and go for a CCJ anyway. If they see you taking on more debt without paying them back first.
Mortgage withdrawn, then repo.0 -

No, the account cannot reappear in the credit account section of your report again, assuming that it was originally recorded as a default that has now dropped off after 6 years.
Defaulted account are removed in their entirety from your report 6 years from the default. Doesn't matter if you haven't finished paying it yet or are still making the payments. ALL trace of the account is removed. Default, balance, payment history/status markers, the lot. As far as anyone checking your report is concerned, there will be no trace of the account and no sign it was ever there or that there is still something outstanding or being paid.
As said though, if you stop paying then the creditor could go for a CCJ. If unpaid within one month of the CCJ date, that would result in a separate new entry in the public record section of the report that would last for 6 years.Thrugelmir wrote: »All credit records?
If defaulted back then over 6 years ago, all evidence of the account should have been wiped from all 3 CRAs or whatever subset it was originally reported to you.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
