I use cleats all the time, commute or ride out. Never a problem. It's a personal choice.

Haha...yeah, happens eventally. Not long after I got mine I stopped to let one of my colleagues out our works garage, put my hand on a locker which wobbled and bang, down I went.

However I've been (touch wood) incident free since except the occasional wobble.

I've got a regular route and I've got bollards, railings and traffic lights all mapped out for holding onto and I unclip when I come to stopped traffic - especially on a long downhill stretch. Otherwise it's anticipation so I don't have to unclip at the last minute then struggle to get latched in while trying to get across a busy junction. I've got SPD-SLs so there's only one way to clip in too.

I've got a 'summer' commuter with SPDs and a 'winter' with flats, doesn't bother me swapping around in the slightest even on a day-to-day basis.

I've never had a clipless related fall through not concentrating, but I did have a fall due to running into a dog once and one foot didn't unclip, twisting my ankle so I couldn't walk for a week.
    Out on blue six..

My only incident was while doing cycling proficiency at our local primary school. I was showing the kids the correct road position for a right turn, talking to them as I was doing it. I continued talking while I pulled up to stop, but forgot I was using SPDs. Over I went much to the merriment of 14 pupils and their teacher (my wife)!

    Made their day!! :embarasse:grin:
