My OAP neighbour has just told me of problem with his Compaq FP5315 tft monitor.

The screen is dark but flicks approx every 3 seconds when you get a vv short glimpse of the PC booting as normal. It's a bit like a car turning on the starter motor but not firing up.

Just tried an old 12 inch crt and the PC is fine.
Our combined opinion is that it's Kn******d, but I said I'd just try the experts.

He's already checking out deals on a 19inch tft. (I hope I'm still as switched on when (if) I get towards 80!!!!

Sounds knackered to me. I'd have checked the cabling first. If you wiggle the data wire while it's in the PC, does it affect the picture? Otherwise it's most likely a component inside the monitor.

    Thanks for the reply JT.

Tried gently wriggling the cable but made no difference, even carefully removed cover ( perhaps not the wisest thing ) to check if any obvious wires pulled out.

    Guess it's junk.

    Thanks again R
