Tumble dryer broke - need help

Long story short i bought a new door catch for my dryer as it broke. I didn't look how it was put together before taking the old one off and now i can't put it back together.

Model number zanussi TD4112

I've enclosed pics - really hope someone can help me as i spent 2 hours last night trying to put it back on, pulling my hair out as no matter what way i try it i can't do it

Tried to do it for over an hour now but still can't do it. I don't know where i'm going wrong

This is the only way i can do it but the catch is loose.

It's the spring that's fitted wrong then if the catch is still loose.

Yeah i thought that but no matter which way i put the spring it's still loose. I'm at my wits end.
