Bad Credit

Wondering if any one can help, a few years ago I was really bad with money, borrowing and not paying back ETC I was put on the 6 years no credit list. I've completely learnt my lesson and I'm a different person now, I have cleared everything I owed and my partner & I want to move to bigger house to accommodate our growing family. My problem is I've checked my credit score and I have 5 defaults, 2 of which come of in June but the rest are due to come off at different times in 2015, is there anyway of having these removed earlier or anything I can do to improve my score as I cant even get a mobile phone contract let alone looking for a bigger mortgage
Please help

No you cant get the defaults removed before the 6 year period. You can run your account really well, maybe get a sub prime credit card and pay the balance off each month. Saving up might also help so look where your spending your money and cut back on stuff, maybe complete and soa and post it on the dfw board.0 -

I'm not sure where you heard about that, but there's no such thing.

Please don't pay any attention to the actual numerical 'score' that the credit reference agencies sell you - no-one else ever sees this, and it's completely irrelevant because the CRAs don't lend money! Each lender has their own criteria.
I'm surprised that with old defaults you can't even get a mobile contract. If I were you I'd check all 3 reports and check that:
- the default date is actually correct (should be 3-6 months after you defaulted on the arrangement)
- all the defaults are showing as satisfied
- there aren't any monthly updates for those defaulted accounts (this would indicate that they've not reported it correctly - happened to me and it's been a nightmare to sort out). The last monthly update for each of your defaulted accounts should be the month that you paid them off.
As for having them removed, I'm afraid not. They seem to have been put on there legitimately and therefore they'll have to stay for 6 years.
Hope this helps.Fritterati Challenge for 2013:

you can't get defaults removed earlier - if people could, there would be no point in credit files.0

I cleared all the debt over a year ago and I owe nothing, but struggle to save because of low wages and i'm paying half of my girlfriends mortgage which I cant get on because of the credit rating.0 -
How would you propose to afford a bigger mortgage then?Fritterati Challenge for 2013:

if you car barely afford what you're paying now, then you wont be able to afford any more credit.
if the defaults are marked as settled then theres nothing more you can do but wait0
