Trying to clear default with Lloyds

Hello Everyone,
I hope that someone may be able to shed some light on my situation!
I have a default account on my credit report with Lloyds. It is completely my own stupid fault for running away from the debt when I was about 16/17. I had an overdraft and then just decided to open anew current account, go to uni and try to forget all about the money I owed. (around £600)
I am now in a position where I want to try and settle this default however I keep running into brick walls with Lloyds, they don't seem to have any details for me and I have not got my sort code and account details as it was from so long ago. I also do not know where the debt collecting agency may be sending letters, as I have moved many times in the past few years and have also been travelling.
The default started in 2010 (i'm not sure why as this is about 7 years after I 'left' Lloyds), so in another 3 years I believe it will 'drop off' - I am not looking to apply for any loans or mortgages so I'm thinking of maybe just waiting the 3 years out? Is this a bad idea? Or shall I attempt to keep digging to find a way of paying it off and getting the default removed?
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks for taking the timeout to read this - Jo x

So 10 years since you had anything to do with it? The debt would be statute barred. Any collector that comes after it can get lost. Is the default still in Lloyds name on your file?Still rolling rolling rolling......

Have you checked your credit file. If its not there, stop worrying.
Can you remember when you made your last payment.
What do you mean #the default started in 2010' did you see the date somewhere
Defaults should be added within 6 months.
Check your credit file and then come back on heremake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
What was the debt for, at 16/17 youj shouldn't even have been able to get into debt.
No one should have loanedyou anything at that age.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Yeah I checked my file today because I tried to open a current account with Halifax and they said no. The 2 negative factors on there are Lloyds tsb default account and not being on the electoral roll. The default date is 2010 and underneath it says that it will stay on there for 6 years (I assume this would be from the start date of 2010)
Do you guys think I should just leave it then? I can cope with not applying for credit for 3 years I guess!0 -
It was an overdraft of £400, they gave me it easily... 26 now and can't get anything!0

And yeah the default is in Lloyds name, even though they can't find anything to do with me on their files!0

I would complain to them. If they are recording the default then they must have a record of the account to do so. Even if valid the default should have been dated 9/10 years ago. 3 years ago is completely inaccurate and taking the pish.Still rolling rolling rolling......

Thanks, yes I'll try and contact them to do so!
Been on the phone all day and even visited the branch hoping to sort it out, even to start paying it off! Not getting anywhere, nightmare!0 -
Tell them if they don't get their act together and sort it you will be reporting them to the ICO and complaining to the FOS.Still rolling rolling rolling......

You need to write to them to make a complaint, very little chance of getting anything rectified by phone.
I would write to them and point out that the default is incorrectly and unfairly registered in 2010. You may want to quote from the ICO guidelines on filing a default notice which states that a default should usually be added within 6months.
