Height of Wall allowed where effective height is lower

Hi there

We're looking in to a potential purchase of a 1920s detached house on a corner plot. It has one boundary where there is a 6' wooden fence and the remainder of the boundary is a 4' high red brick wall. The garden is raised by approximately 2' so the effective height of the wall from inside the boundary is 2. If we were to buy the house we'd need to make sure that our boundaries were 6' as we have dogs however that would make the wall height from the ouside 8'. I'm assuming that we would need planning permission so what do you think wuld be the likelihood of it being granted?`

It's measured from inside your house plot. basically you can buy a standard 2m fence and put it on your boundary. As long as it's not adjacent to the highway. Whatever that means. Phone your local planing department and speak to the duty officer.
