in Credit cards
Hi All,
I went to Italy in August and staying in both Pisa and Florence, booked two seperate hotels with Travel Republic.
Had issued with both the bookings, first booking in Pisa - Air Con didn't work in the hotel, second booking we were turned away from the hotel we'd booked and put in new hotel which was nothing like the hotel we had booked.
Tried complaining through TR but the hotels aren't responding, can I claim anything back as booked in on my credit card?
Any advise would be welcome.

I don't know how TR works. If you paid to TR, not to the hotels directly, then AFAIK claiming from an agent under S75 can be a problem: Section 75 refunds
If you paid to the hotels directly, I don't see any reasons for not claiming at least some money back if you have proofs.0 -
Thanks for your reply, I paid TR for the hotels, they are chasing the hotel for a response but not had a reply, its only been 28 days since I complained and they said they will keep trying and let me know in 14 days time. I just got a feeling they are going to keep saying another 14 days.

Tell them to try harder. I cannot imagine a hotel without a telephone. Thanks for your reply, I paid TR for the hotels, they are chasing the hotel for a response but not had a reply, its only been 28 days since I complained and they said they will keep trying...
If TR is a UK company I think you can just sue them through an online small claims court. You just can't hold the CC company jointly liable.0 -
Travel republic is a us company as we had problems with them and another company in 2010. We booked hotels in Syria, it was fine then we went independently and drove around and the hotel bookings were the only issue. The hotels we booked direct were fine but those through TR were either overbooked and we had to go elsewhere or in one case were kicked out a day early and had to find our own hotel for the last might in Aleppo.
We informed them and also mbna and auctioned a chargeback through mbna, had some wrangling and argument with TR but we got our money back eventually, I got the impression they were fine for normal destinations around the med and us but were out of their depth in more unusual locations.
Your contractual relationship is with your cc provider and TR so keep on at both of them. I'm not sure a lack of aircon would justify a full refund but the second case is stronger as we had this and ended up at a very much worse hotel which they claimed initially was the same standard.0
