Most of these cases revolve around the absent parent not able to prove where they do live, bills, utilities, bank accounts, car insurance, house rental agreements, broadband, council tax, all the usual stuff we attach to ourselves when we live at a place.
It is very hard to actually live somewhere and not have some kind of paper trail unless you sleep rough.
The absence of any of this stuff points them towards someone trying it on.
They do get it wrong, but they also do get a lot right, if you are caught on the wrong side, you will have to fight to prove them wrong.
Both need to work at it as both are under suspicion, even if they have not spoken to the other party yet.Be happy...;)0 -
My son's dad lives with his cousin and her husband a long with 2 of her sons and her grandchild. He pays them rent, but gets his bank statments delivered to his mother's address, which is the only thing he really has sent out. They didn't give me anything with his name on that has been sent to my address, although my Sky TV (which is not in use) is in his name.
We are not together, but get on very well and he sleeps on my sofa. When he was working, he bought our son food and clothing, just like I do and of course he would help me out, but I would feel embarrassed to ask him for money if it was for me.
Why? You are looking after his child. The benefits money you're claiming comes from strangers, so why be embarrassed to ask the father of your child to give you some money?
Have you put in a CSA claim yet? That money won't affect your benefits. Even though he isn't working, he will still be instructed to pay you some money for his child, from his benefits.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

None of that. I'm basically f'ed because of he has nothing sent to that address. His house is about 45 mins away by train. He lives just outside London (which is the reason he sleeps over). I have nothing to hide, but I can tell they don't want to know.
45 minutes is nothing, in terms of travelling out of London. I travel over 45 minutes into work in London every day and then over 45 minutes home every evening. Many workers travel into London and back for 4 hours every day. Then they have to get up and do the same the next day.
Apart from your Sky tv being in his name, where is he registered for other things i.e. his insurance policies, doctors, dentist? Where is he registerd for the Electoral roll?
Does he have a bed at his cousin's house?RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

OP. if everything you have said on this thread is true then you are clearly not cohabiting. If you were to be pressured into making a joint claim, which implies you are cohabiting, that would be fraudulent. Your MP helped you before, so maybe go back to them again to say you are being harassed by the DWP staff repeatedly failing to accept the truth.0

We are not together, but get on very well
Sorry to be asking but you have a child with this man. If you get on so well, why are you not actually living and bringing up your child together?0
