EDF deal ending, when to switch?

My current fixed deal with EDF is up at the end of September. It has exit fees so I'm wary of switching before the deal ends, however I signed up to uSwitch which has alerted me it is a good time to now switch so am confused as what to do, will I get hit with exit fees if I decide to switch now?

Cheers
Mike

  • What deal are you on? I was on the fixed plus blue promise Sept 2013 or similar which also runs out on the end of Sept. And even EDF said my contract is up soon do I want to switch/renew. So I did. But that fixed tariff was without exit fees.

Yes, which tariff are you on with EDF that has early exit fees?

Anyway, as it takes at least 3 weeks to complete a switch, you'll be fine switching today :)
  • It's the Fixed Price September 2013, think it's £30 exit fee. I thought it would be ok to switch as it takes awhile, but the one thing that made me question this is when I did the comparison with uSwitch about a week ago it said not to switch and then a few days later I got the email saying I should now switch! Think I'll take the risk and switch. Doing it through comparethemarket though, you don't get £30 for swapping but I'll take the risk seeing as the new Secret Agent Maiya toy is selling for upto £50 on ebay at the moment. Not guarenteed but could pay off and beat the switch money.

And thanks for the replies also.
  • Please double check if you have a termination fee because most of their tariffs don't. Plus I just did the chat option on the EDF site and they said none of their fixed price deals have an exit fee.

    A.
As defined in the Fixed Price 2013 full tariff rules, a £35 Early Termination Fee will be applied to your electricity account should you change
your supplier or switch to an alternative EDF Energy tariff before 31 December 2011; or a £15 Early Termination Fee will be applied to your
electricity account should you change your supplier or switch to an alternative EDF Energy tariff before 31 December 2012. No Early
Termination Fee will be applied if you withdraw between 1 January 2013 and 30 September 2013.
  • Looks like I'm good to go then. Shame everything is more expensive now than the tariff I'm on but that's to be expected!
