Successful reclaim - RBS not paid full offer amount.

I am a bit confused where to take this i was offered £5600 which i signed for and accepted. £4200 in premiums refund on my PPI and £1400 in interest. I received no further correspondence and this claim was directly with Natwest/RBS.

I received £3400 and its nothing to sniff at but as it was agreed? the amount i was owed was over £2000 more i almost feel slightly robbed here and am going to contact RBS directly tomorrow. Is there anything i am missing here. The loan itself is settled and i should not of owed RBS any more money or owe any money relating to any other group of there's.

I heard there are a few cases with ''calculation errors'', but for 2k? It sounds like a strange calculation error for accountants. Ill get back back on here tomorrow but if anyone has dealt with something similar could they please get back to me. Could use some help.

regards

Ashley

  • Only one way to find out - contact them! Worth noting that if you'd got into debt, done a deal with the bank and settled your loan for less than originally agreed then they can re-alocate funds, even though you may consider the debt paid. Whatever the reason if you continue to have problems with them you can take the settlement issue to the FOS, but do try and sort it out withe bank first. Also interest continues to accrue until they have settled in full.
  • If they made an offer "in full and final settlement" that would normally be legally binding on them if you accepted it within any time limit given. They may be able to withhold money to pay off other debts with them, as misschicken says - but they should explain it.

When you say settled, this sounds like it was not repaid in full but an agreed lower amount. Is that the case?

If it is the case, then the lender can use the redress to offset any amount that was written off as part of the settlement. However, the calculation in the letter you receive should show that.
