Mobile phone tracking device??

Is there such a thing like an app or something that you can put onto your iphone/android etc that gives information to the whereabouts of a phone call has come from.

Lets say for example that someone calls you and says they ar ein London but really up in scotland.

Police can track phone call locations in murder investigations etc so is there any device that you can put on your phone to see where calls have come from.

No - the data which matches phone numbers to cell tower locations is not available to the general public. There would need to be an app installed on the phone the person was using to call you that reported back the phone's GPS location which you had access to (with the permission of the other person) to be able to see where their phone is at the time of a call.

Not to worry, my friend in London who most likely is in Nigeria will have to remain locationless

I know zilch about these devises but my sons Apple thingy (a tablet?) can see, by a yellow dot, (if the other mobile is switched on) just exactly where it is.
