Another Riverford fan here - I chose them because they come on a thursday which is good for meal planning and weekends but am really impressed with the veggies. I did try out the dairy crest one for a week but wasn't impressed - there was sort of more for the price but everything came in plastic bags and had been pressure washed so didn't really "look" organic and made me suspicious - but then I'm a pretty cynical person :)
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008
  • I tried to order a box this evening from Riverford. I don't have a credit card - the only card I have is a Visa Electron debit card which they don't seem to take, even though they said they take visa debit cards. (And yes, there was enough money in the account).

    I'm a Riverford gal and think they're :j
:D Make a list of important things to do today. At the top, put 'eat chocolate'. Now, you'll get at least one thing done today. :D
  • I really like the idea of this both with the veg and meat, but I priced it up and its exactly the same price as sainsburys, I might try it as im so so fed up with shodly meat.

What weigh of veg do you get for your money though is it reaaly enough

I order from River Swale, but presume it's the same policy. I too don't have a credit card, but I rang them up and they passed my details onto the local distributor and I can pay by cheque.
Lovely veg, delivered this morning. Yay cauliflower! :D

I have used riverford for 3 years now and cannot fault them. Their veg is so very fresh and delivery is A1 reliable. I like the way you can change the order on the website. I vary the box size from time to time and at the moment am on the mini box with an added cabbage and some milk. Their carrots are superb when steamed. In fact for lunch today (and all in 1 steamer) fish, potatoes, carrots, purple sprouting brocolli. Couldn`t be easier and worth the mud
  • So definitely a good idea then. They deliver on a Sat which is really handy. I'm not here this weekend so will go for a week Saturday. Exciting!

I've only been getting a Riverford box for about the last 6 weeks but would agree - they're great! I used to get an Abel & Cole one, which is better if you want to be able to choose what you do/don't get, but I think are more expensive. And my delivery man has been in touch to see how I'm getting on, which is a nice touch.

In case it helps, we (house of 2 most of the time, 3 on Saturdays) ave found that a 'mini' veg box with a pepper and some tomatoes (out-of-season, I know, but we love them) does really well for a whole week's lunches and dinners. Fruit we get separately as the other half will only eat Granny Smiths, clementines, tinned and dried fruit...

I am considering getting a weekly or fortnightly delivery of these. There is only me that would eat the veg but me and OH to eat the meat.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Do they offer value for money? Considering we eat meat EVERY day.

    Thanks :A
