I am on my 3rd Riverford Fruit & Veg delivery today, not yet home from work so haven't seen it yet. However, the first two deliveries were excellent. A good variation of veg - I have tried stuff that I would never have even looked at before!
All of it has lasted well in the fridge.
What is even better is they supply you with a recipe card each week for the more unusual stuff, like Jerusalem Artichokes.0 -
I got my first River Swale box last week. It's one of the sister companies, based in the North. I was very impressed, and will be sticking with it for the foreseeable future. Because DH doesn't really eat veg, I'm going to have to think about how to use it best, but have just cooked up some Leek and Potato soup, and some Parsnip and Parmesan soup which I have frozen in portions for lunches, and a big bowl of coleslaw, using Savoy cabbage, which I've never had before that should last me lunches the rest of the week. The potatoes were glorious mashed, they actually had flavour! The website had lots of recipes using their produce.

Me and "A-Z" had Riverford boxes for a couple of years and very good they are too. It's all orgasmic so no chemicals and their policy is no air-freight so as much as poss is road-freighted. We only stopped because she's bailing out on me and I simply can't afford it until I get my finances sorted out. One of the great joys of the scheme is that you eat what you should be eating, ie: you get the right produce for the time of year. No carppy pneumatic tasteless Spanish strawberries in January!

I have been using Riverford for about 3 weeks now too - am really happy.
The whole process is flawless and they are as green as they can - local distributor, reusable boxes, compostable bags/punnets etc.
I researched carefully btwn Riverford and Abel & Cole - i chose the former as they seem to have more coming from their farm than outside UK.
The boxes are quite generous - it was quite hard to use up a Small VegBox between 2 adults in a week - there was lots of soup on the weekend!
A mini box might even do us.
But anyway I am delighted with them.0 -
Forgot to add - previous poster said they give you a recipe card for any 'new' veg.
Also their website has a hug searchable database for recipes / ways to cook odd stuff e.g. kale - with printable views.0 -

I order from them too and I think it is one of the best decisions I have made! Price wise, I think it is cheaper and tastes nicer than the supermarket. The veg all last over a week as well, compared to veg from the supermarket that tends to wilt after a few days.
There are 2 of us who love our veg, and we can almost get through a medium box a week. Some unusual veg that we really aren't keen on- The Jerusalem artichokes 'cough cough'Also the cauliflower is huge, does anyone else struggle to get through them a week?!

Oh, I love jerusalem artichokes - I'm not with Riverford, I get a box from Abel and Cole because I'm not a veggie person and they let me be really picky about what i get. Having said that I've heard good things about them from people at work.April Grocery Challenge: £250/£127.530
